How will you GLOW?
Do you want to have a GLOW mission in your community? This summer, thousands of people will attend major gatherings planned for Canada Day on July 1. Although we are happy for this celebration, we have more than one reason to celebrate. Although we are blessed to live in one of the best countries in the world, we have a better land that God is preparing for us and for all who choose to believe in Him. As a result, we desire to invite as many people as possible to join us in preparing for the coming of our Lord. To fulfill this high calling, there is a great need to share God’s word in creative and relevant ways, for it is the Word that transforms lives.
In the book, To Be Like Jesus, we read:
“I was given instruction that as we approach the end, there will be large gatherings in our cities…and that preparations must be made to present the truth at these gatherings. When Christ was upon this earth, He took advantage of such opportunities. Wherever a large number of people was gathered for any purpose, His voice was heard, clear and distinct, giving His message. And as a result, after His crucifixion and ascension, thousands were converted in a day… Leaflets containing the light of present truth should be scattered among the people like the leaves of autumn. To many who attend these gatherings these leaflets would be as the leaves of the tree of life, which are for the healing of the nations… The time has come when, as never before, Seventh-day Adventists are to arise and shine, because their light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon them.” –BLJ, p. 278
So, here are five simple steps how you can GLOW in your community this summer:

So, here are five simple steps how you can GLOW in your community this summer:
1. PLAN
Locate where the Canada Day parade and/or celebrations will be held in your area. Remember that larger cities are always better for greater impact. Print a map of the area and create a tentative schedule. Remember that it is good to arrive at least 45 minutes before an event to share the GLOW tracts as people arrive. Working the outskirts of an event is always better as no permit is required to share literature on public areas like sidewalks. Below is a sample of items you may want to include in your schedule:
2. RECRUIT
Although you and your family can have a great time sharing God’s word, the reality is that the more people there are, the merrier!
3. ORGANIZE
Once you have a list of people to work with, go ahead and meet with them for a short meeting after church. You can then determine who wants t-shirts, their shirt sizes, and how you will handle the meal and transportation. You will also want to discuss meeting places and the schedule. As for training, it’s very simple. All you need to do is to tell your team to smile BIG, confidently stretch out a tract, and say, “Happy Canada Day!” For people who stop to ask for more information, share with them a book and you can even offer to pray for them if they are open. We are receiving emails and phone calls on a weekly basis of people desiring Bible studies, prayer requests and a desire for more literature. Don’t be afraid to share! You need more encouragement? 4. ORDER
Order your literature and optional gear. This year, besides the customized Canada GLOW tract, we are offering the missionary book of the year at a discount for distribution. It’s called Hope for Today’s Families.
OPTIONAL GEAR
(Past participants mentioned that shirt sizes tend to be fitted large.)
SHIPPING & INVOICE
5. PRAY
Pray before the mission, establish prayer partners during the mission, and pray that God will continue to direct individuals to His truth once the distribution is done. Remember that,“It is a part of God’s plan to grant us, in answer to the prayer of faith, that which He would not bestow did we not thus ask.” – GC, p. 525
